Preventing Avalanches And Landslides

Howitzers, explosives, hydrogen-filled balloons, and other solutions exist to prevent avalanches and landslides.
"...even though dozens of people die in avalanches every year, the government -- currently considering a Senate bill that would devote $90 million to avalanche-prevention systems and awareness and research -- should be able to keep it from happening...'There's no reason that anybody should be killed by an avalanche'"
