How will a Tucson redevelopment project impact the city's public housing community?

Will private development that requires the demolition and rebuilding of a public housing complex ultimately improve downtown Tucson? The city has applied for $10 million in funding from HUD to aid the project, which will keep about two-thirds of the building's units, while adding 24 affordable housing rental units and eight affordable residences as part of the redevelopment project. Many residents are actually in favor of the plan, but one Tucson architect insists, "Don't tear down public housing units until all that need them, have them."
