A Better Transit Future in SD

San Diego Association of Governments begins process to update its 20-year Regional Transportation Plan.
A 49-member Citizens Advisory Committee for Transportation met for the first of a series of forums to discuss the improvement of regional transit. Their recommendations will be used by the San Diego Association of Governments to update its 20-year Regional Transportation Plan. While some argued that any transportation plan should focus on cars because they are the most direct mode of transportation, strengthening transit lines to take people to work and college, especially those that serve poor communities, were identified as a priority. The need for transit systems to be integrated into overall city design was also highlighted.
