Housing Plan To Proceed Without HUD

San Francisco school officials still intend to build a teacher housing project but will proceed without a controversial partnership with HUD.
San Francisco schools officials still intend to continue with the Sunset school-housing project for teachers but will proceed without a controversial partnership with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development -- a proposal that had provoked outcries from teachers and Sunset residents. "Teachers and residents had complained about the HUD partnership, saying it brought to mind visions of welfare housing. District officials, though, said their rejection of the HUD off was strictly financial."
