Contra Costa County banned development on 22 square miles of prime open space.
Contra Costa County is on of the fastest growing counties in the Bay Area. The county has banned development on 22 square miles of prime open space. "The unanimous action by the board of supervisors to stop development of 13,500 acres -- an area nearly the size of Manhattan -- in the eastern county is one of the strongest efforts yet to control growth in the booming Bay Area."
