Metropolitan Phoenix has become the top home-building market in the U.S. for the first time.
Between January, 2004 and August, 2004, "39,210 new homes were permitted across greater Phoenix, according to the National Association of Home Builders." Atlanta, which runs a close second, had 39,100 single-family housing permits issued during the same period.
"Phoenix is still one of the most affordable housing areas... Both Phoenix and Atlanta have vast tracts of cheap land ripe for new homes."
