Chicago approves a record $1.82 billion deal to lease the Chicago Skyway to a Spanish-Australian consortium.
The City Council voted unanimously to approve a $1.82 billion deal to lease the Chicago Skyway to a Spanish-Australian consortium for 99 years. The deal raises the possibility of a 25 percent toll increase for the 7.8 mile highway. One alderman called the deal "the greatest single financial coup in the history of Chicago."
