Participants in an AIA-sponsored conference report on the lessons learned from the efforts to rebuild lower Manhattan.
Lance Jay Brown, FAIA, andKite Singleton, FAIA report on the lessons learned from AIA's "Learning from Lower Manhattan" conference, held September 17-19 at many locations in the heart of New York's downtown.
The authors summarize 13 lessons learned in the rebuilding process, including: Rebuild commercial vitality; Link airport to Ground Zero; Stimulate waterfront development; and Use scant parking to reinforce public transit.
