Tracy Becomes Poster Child For Sprawl
31 July 2000 - 6:30am
The Sierra Club has joined the political political battle over growth in south San Joaquin County, and Tracy is ground zero.
The explosion of housing developments and retail stores in Tracy has attracted the interest of the Sierra Club, which is now using Tracy in marketing materials as the poster child for sprawl. The Sierra Club has sued the city over the environmental impact reports created for several projects. Two of those lawsuits -- the 550-home Presidio and the Tracy Hills home/technology park projects -- have been settled. Two other suits are pending.
