Madison's new Cesar Pelli-designed arts center succeeds in taming challenges of site and scale.
Overlooking State Street halfway between the Capitol building and the University of Wisconsin campus, Madison's Overture Center for the Arts is an exciting new venue for culture. Whitney Gould reviews the structure, which manages to fit its 400,000 square feet of concert halls and public space amongst the neighboring blocks of late-19th and early-20th century buildings.
