HUD Restores $156 Million To Section 8

Government restored funds in response to public housing authorities' appeals.
"The government is restoring millions of dollars that were to be cut in the program that helps poor families pay the rent.
The Housing and Urban Development Department is putting back about $156 million after reviewing public housing authorities' appeals of a decision in the spring restraining spending on Section 8 voucher financing...
The $13-billion program was changed when President Bush signed the current budget into law in January...The approval of additional money came two months before the election but not everyone saw political motives in the action."
