"The rehabilitation is, properly, not a pure restoration to the original 1911 design. But the Montgomery is a solid piece of design whose proportions, siting, and craftsmen's touches grace the city. With a bold mayor willing to take a chance and a savvy and imaginative developer who saw a valuable asset where everyone else saw an abandoned building, a beautiful and significant piece of San Jose has been saved for the future. We would be poorer if we had lost it."
