Environmentalists Boycott McGreevey Bill Signing
11 August 2004 - 2:00pm
Gov. James E. McGreevey signs a bill protecting more than 400,000 acres of land as well as drinking water but environmentalists stay away.
While Mr. McGreevey heralded the signing as an important day for the state's environmental future, most of New Jersey's prominent environmental groups did not attend the bill signing, choosing to hold their own event to criticize the governor for approving a second bill that will expedite development throughout the state.

What the Census will not include is the long-form questions that have, since 1940, asked one-sixth of American households to reveal fine details about their lives. The long form was scrapped following the 2000 Census, so planners who are accustomed to relying on detailed, nuanced Census data to analyze and plan their communities may not get the detail that they expect.
