The Longest Place Name?

21 July 2004 - 9:00am

Residents in a UK village are giving themselves the longest place name in the UK to protest plans for a wind farm.

"People in Llanfynydd in Carmarthenshire are changing signs to read Llanhyfryddawelllehyn-afolybarcudprindanfygy-thiadtrienusyrhafnauole. The name apparently means, "a quiet beautiful village, an historic place with rare kite under threat from wretched blades"."Gamesa Energy UK, part of one of the world's biggest wind energy companies, wants to erect the 40m test mast in a field on the outskirts of the village."

Imagine being able to walk from most parts of an city to small local farms that are integrated into preserved green spaces and green belts and that supply fresh produce and farm goods into the farmers markets at the hearts of our neighborhoods.
