Support For Utah Open Space Initiative

Utah candidates for Governor support open space initiative, though measure may fail to make it to the November ballot.
The Democratic and Republican candidates for Utah Governor both expressed support for an open space initiative at the Utah Farm Bureau Conference this weekend. But the measure faces an uphill fight to get on the November ballot because of legal hurdles in Utah's initiative law.
"Republican Huntsman and Democrat Matheson both said during the midyear conference of the Utah Farm Bureau Federation that they supported the citizens initiative that would have cleared the way for a $150 million statewide bond for purchase of critical lands, including farm acreage and conservation easements on working farms. "
