Springfied officials want to quit the regional planning process for the Eugene-Springfield Metropolitan Area due to its "mind-numbing complexities".

The plotters are ordinary city officials tired of dealing with what they call the mind-numbing complexities of the Eugene-Springfield Metropolitan Area Plan...The would-be revolutionaries of Springfield say they have no complaint with the idea of regional planning...Oregon law requires cities and counties to have a comprehensive plan consistent with statewide goals to help prevent urban sprawl and protect open space and farmland
