Growing Economic Benefits From Amateur Sports Add Up

The Tempe Convention and Visitor's Bureauu finds that people visiting for amateur events, stay longer and spend more money than other tourists.
"The economic benefits from tourists who travel to the Valley for youth and amateur sports events are adding up, and Valley cities are desperate to attract more... The youth and amateur sports market has been growing across the country, said Dan Ballou, director of sports marketing for the Albuquerque Convention and Visitors Bureau. He said the Southwest has been especially successful at drawing baseball, soccer and golf enthusiasts."
