Little Mystery To Cleveland's Hidden Vaults

Clevelanders for years have stood atop architectural relics of the days when Euclid Avenue was the city's grand boulevard.
"The city will spend about $9 million this year to fill in or repair 58 vaults underneath the sidewalks lining the avenue. Most, built 75 years ago, stored heating oil, coal or heavy electrical equipment. They are empty now, but repairs will be costly."
