Are real estate agents misleading potential home buyers about crime in "up and coming" urban areas?
"...agents competing for sales in the area say they are more inclined to shy away from discussing crime because of concerns about federal fair housing laws.Any negative comment about a street or a school, they fear, can open them up to accusations of redlining a neighborhood. Under the Fair Housing Act, it is illegal for agents to steer buyers away from poor neighborhoods."
