Land Use Power: Raising The Stakes

Florida county and its cities fight over land use power.
"Raising the stakes in their battle with cities over development, Broward County commissioners are exploring whether to ask voters this spring if they want veto power over any project that increases a neighborhood's population beyond existing land-use plans.The proposal would give voters the final say on projects ranging from the 38-story Ocean Palms planned in Hollywood to the now defunct twin high-rises that were to be built alongside a new International Swimming Hall of Fame in Pompano Beach."
