Where Million-Dollar Homes Are 'Typical'

In many cities, including Santa Rosa, CA, million-dollar homes are no longer the only for the rich and famous.

"Some of the changes have to do with what a million dollars will buy these days. The county's median home price has registered double-digit gains in all but one of the past five years, jumping from $219,500 in 1998 to $424,000 in 2003, pushing more homes into million-dollar territory. The number of Sonoma County households with a million-dollar income hasn't increased, but factors contributing to the overall real estate market's strength also are pushing the million-dollar market."

The promise of 'communities' yet-to-come must be particularly offensive to people who pre-date incoming developments. What is the 'beginning of a community that has the body language of a community?' Does this imply that the current neighborhoods in and around downtown Los Angeles lack such a 'body language'?
