Will Philadelphia Become America's Urban Laboratory?

The University of Pennsylvania lauches the Penn Urban Research Institute.
"The University of Pennsylvania inaugurated a 12-school Penn Urban Research Institute whose purpose is to foster and enhance interdisciplinery research, instruction and civic engagement. The Institute will bridge the award-winning redevelopment efforts undertaken in West Philadelphia by the University and on-going urban-focused research and instruction in Penn's twelve schools." Eugenie L. Birch, Professor and Chair, Department of City and Regional Planning, School of Design and Susan M.Wachter, Professor of Real Estate, Wharton School are Co-Directors of the Institute.
