Proposed Power Plant Criticized

Plan for a new power plant in South San Jose, CA, less than a mile from a residential neighborhood is being criticized for not being environmentally sensitive.
Calpine Corporation's plan for a new power plant in South San Jose, CA, is coming under criticism for not being environmentally sensitive. State and federal regulators expressed concern that the proposed plant would emit pollutants. Others blame regulators for not requiring Calpine to consider more environmentally sensitive state-of-the-art technology. Calpine has announced that it "...will use the cleanest emissions control technology available."
