Underground Transit Route Proposed for Vancouver
18 February 2004 - 5:00am
Three transit proposals for the estimated $1.7 billion route have in common a tunnel beneath Vancouver's downtown core.
"The teams are proposing both low-floor, light-rail vehicles with drivers, capable of operating at street level, and fully automated driverless vehicles similar to those used by SkyTrain. All three proposals would see riders making the journey from downtown Vancouver to Richmond Centre in less than 30 minutes and from downtown Vancouver to the airport in less than 25 minutes."
