A Gas Tax To Finance Transportation Infrastructure?

Alaska Rep. Don Young argues that a deteriorating transportation infrastructure burdens the economy more than a gas tax increase would.
The chairman of the House Transportation Committee wants to boost highway and transit spending in the federal six-year transportation bill known as SAFETEA. The Secretaries of Transportation and Treasury caution that a tax increase or debt financing to increase funding would like draw a veto from the White House.
