Comparing BART and L.A.'s New Subway

What can San Francisco's BART learn from Los Angeles' new subway?
Momentum for mass transit in the Bay area is picking up speed while it is slowing down for Los Angeles. These differences are created by different politics, geography, and infrastructure costs. While the Bay Area's hilly terrain dictates where rail routes go, Los Angeles' flat basin makes it more difficult to select routes leading to controversy.
