Durango: A Benchmark In The Smart Growth Movement

Four Corners growth spurs Durango to shape its direction -- a style that would be a benchmark in the smart-growth movement.
"Durango knows it has to grow. More and more people want to live here or nearby. There is no movement or mechanism to stop its growth. But not until late Wednesday night did it become clear how big, in which direction and with what character that growth likely will occur... The plans, if realized, would be the leading exemplar of new urbanism in the country, said project designer Jeff Speck, also design director for the National Endowment for the Arts."
