U.K. Consulting Firms Has 400 Openings

18 January 2004 - 1:00pm

Consultant Atkins is looking to hire 400 professional staff such as engineers and architects for its UK businesses in 2004.

"Atkins chairman Mike Jeffries hinted at the vast increase in workload that the Metronet contract has created. He said: 'We have about 300 staff participating in this work. Construction is due to start in the new year on a number of stations for which we are currently undertaking the design, including Oxford Circus.'... An industry expert said that the skills shortage across the country meant that bringing workers in from overseas was inevitable when short-term workloads increase."
