City Adopts Moratorium On Major Commercial Corridor

The moratorium was triggered by the growing "hodgepodge" of buildings, stores, and fast-food restaurants.
"The unanimous vote to implement a six-month moratorium was hailed by residents, city planners and elected officials as crucial to jump-starting a section that has struggled for decades despite constant predictions that success was near. During the moratorium, the City will revamp its zoning laws, laying out a vision for all future development. But that plan has some business owners nervous and could potentially cost the City millions of dollars. Under laws designed to protect property owners, municipalities are liable if zoning changes 'substantially' impact businesses."
