Architecture: A Year in Review

25 December 2003 - 1:00pm

Beth Dunlop reflects on the year in architecture in 2003, and calls it 'a year of building up, and a year of tearing down.'

Beth Dunlop of the Miami Herald looks at the year of architecture in review, with the opening of new cultural arts buildings in Los Angeles and Dallas, and the rocky compromise of the World Trade Center site in New York City. She also writes: "...news at home is, at best, mixed. There are ever more high rises filling the skyline....McMansions (and bigger) continue to fill once-handsome neighborhoods and jeopardize the historic architecture fabric and landscape of South Florida."
