Many, weary of sprawling conditions in Portsmouth, RI, look forward to 'ambitious' efforts to create a town center.
Portsmouth, RI is sprawling and lacks a town center. The keys to the 'ambitious' plan to create a town center for Portsmouth include slowing down traffic and changing the look of development along the stretch of a major road. "Landscaping would also play an important role in the proposed town center....Another major component of the plan calls for new buildings to have mixed uses--retail shops on the ground floor, with offices or residential units on the upper levels."
