Lake Las Vegas -- the suburban reincarnation of Sin City with a 320-acre artificial lake -- is taking shape as a make-believe Tuscan village.
"If Las Vegas epitomizes the over-the-top consumerism of American architecture, then Lake Las Vegas takes that ostentation to the next logical step, transporting it to a gated community for empty nesters who have already hit the jackpot. One villa features elevator push buttons for the homeowners' dogs. Another boasts five waterfalls, including one in the master bedroom that runs full speed in the dry desert heat. There are endless infinity-edge pools, remote-control fire pits and oversize garages ready for a fleet of Porsches."
