Greenbelt Proposed Around Toronto

Development is banned in the fast-growing Ontario region known as the 'Golden Horseshoe'.
"Development will be banned for a year on a huge swath of land around the Golden Horseshoe slated one day to form a permanent greenbelt. The one-year ban is to give the new provincial Liberal government the breathing space to come up with a long-term plan to control urban sprawl in the area... 'Within 15 years, it will be the third largest urban region in North America after New York and Los Angeles.' "
