LA CRA Expanding Influence
4 July 2000 - 7:30am
Despite the recent loss of the huge San Fernando Valley redevelopment area, the Los Angeles Community Redevelopment Agency is quietly expanding its influence.
Despite a lack of confidence from the Los Angeles City Council and the closure of the 6,835-acre Northeast Valley redevelopment project area in recent weeks, the Los Angeles Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) is seeking to create two new redevelopment project areas. The agency is considering a new downtown project and a project in San Pedro, as well as expanding or reviving several others. The proposals are contained in the agency's 2000-01- budget plan, which will be considered by the LA City Council in July. The LA Business Journal discusses the planned expansions in detail.
