Public Video Screens And Public Benefits

If they want to do a big video screen pulsing Ford and Coke, is there a public benefit to be had?
Vancouver has secured 2 1/2 hours a day of the air time on two jumbo (15 feet by 20 feet) high resolution video screens for the videos and films of local creative folks. "If a developer and some city planners get their way, watching opera -- or the symphony or Sarah McLachlan for that matter -- in the heart of downtown on two large video screens could become a reality by next spring."
