Ten governors urge Clinton administration to consultlocal communities before creating or expanding nationalmonuments.
In a letter to the Interior SecretaryBruce Babbitt, ten governors urgedthe Clinton administration to consultlocal communities before creating or expanding nationalmonuments saying "It is unfair to the people who cherish their local landscapes and whoselives will be most directly affected because of decisions made inWashington, D.C." The letter also requested thatthe administration comply with the NationalEnvironmental Policy Act which requires public input.
