Greenbelt would protect watershed, limit sprawl.

Promising to do whatever is necessary to defeat a farmland protection program, an association of Washtenaw County home builders is trying to bury the pioneering initiative in a landslide of negative advertising. Known as Proposal B, the initiative would raise up to $100 million to purchase the development rights to as many as 8,000 acres of farmland around the city. A vote on the measure occurs November 4.
