Can and should Palo Alto, CA wire the city with Fiber-optic cable to compete with commercial services?
"A $40 million plan to wire Palo Alto with city-owned fiber-optic cable is on hold while city staffers scramble to put together a rigorous cost-benefit analysis... City officials say the analysis is crucial as they attempt to determine whether Palo Alto can turn a profit by providing high-speed Internet and television service to the town's 60,000 residents."
