Scientists say sprawl makes regions vulnerable to flooding.
"Suburban sprawl in northern Delaware and Chester County, Pa., may be worsening the region's vulnerability to flash flooding...The problem tends to worsen as development spreads, as more-absorbent forests and farm fields are replaced by lawns and pavement - sluicing rain more quickly into drains and creeks."
