Citywide Rezoning for Stanton

Stanton, CA., plans to rezone the entire city into a redevelopment zone.
At a public hearing, the Stanton City Council will discussa proposal to rezone the entire city into a redevelopment zone with the aim of getting more funds for civic improvement.The funds will be used for "low-interest home improvement and small-businessloans, aid to first-time home buyers, street repair and othercivic beautification projects" with an emphasis on housing. Property values in Stanton, a city with an industrial base and old housing, are amongthe lowest in the county. The redevelopment plan specificallyforbids the seizing of property by eminent domain.
