How To Hire A Planning Director

The Charlotte Observer editorializes on the process of hiring a new planning directory for the city of Charlotte.
"Good urban planning involves far more than rezonings. It should include, to list a few examples, park and school location and design, zoning enforcement and environmental protection. All those functions reside now with county government except for school location, a function of the Charlotte Mecklenburg school system. Figuring out the ideal relationship among all those differing interests and agencies is a tall order even under the best of circumstances and with the best of relationships."
