Opening of a "Big Box" Home Depot store actually helps small home improvement businesses in one Hartford neighborhood.
"It's known in retail parlance as a "category killer," a corporate behemoth that chews up and spits out any competitor foolish enough to remain in its way.But a funny thing happened after a Home Depot store opened on New Park Avenue in 1996: The mammoth home improvement warehouse became the spark that revitalized a once dreary industrial corridor."
