The shutdown of one of the two pipelines delivering gas to the Phoenix Valley exposes a major infrastructure vulnerability.
"'It's unacceptable,' said Marc Spitzer, chairman of the Arizona Corporation Commission and a former state senator. 'Things will go wrong, things will break down; it's the law of entropy. And you don't want to be at the mercy of somebody else. We need to decide whether we want refineries, and if we don't, we have to build more pipelines. Instead of crying over it, let's start doing it.'"
