League of California Cities Urges Governor's Veto On Revived "Donut Hole" Bill in City of Redlands
Sacramento - The League of California Cities are requesting a veto of AB 1544 (Calderon - D, Montebello) a developer-sponsored bill that would override existing law and land use approval processes and allow the building of a shopping center in an unincorporated island of county territory surrounded by the City of Redlands. Last year, in vetoing AB 1553, the Governor urged the City of Redlands to negotiate with the property owners and pursue a "fair and equitable" resolution locally. But he also stated that if there was no progress he would look favorably on similar legislation.
