Toronto Sprawl Costing Taxpayers Billions

Report finds long-term costs of sprawl outweigh short-term benefits.
"If sprawl - the vast sections of low-rise housing and strip malls replacing farm fields - continues for the next 25 years, [Greater Toronto Area] taxpayers will have to pay billions more than if more compact communities were built, the report says." The report recommends adopting Smart Growth strategies.
