Residents Fight Sprawl To Protect Rural Character

A new system that limits the number of homes built annually has pitted large landowners against residents who fear the loss of rural character.

"The struggle to prevent farmland from becoming sprawling subdivisions with expensive homes is being played out in fast-developing areas across the state, but few communities can match the intensity with which this town is trying to rein in home building."
