Detroit Residents Discover The Rural Thumb

Michigan's Thumb region, long overlooked as either a residential or vacation area, is starting to grow as Metro Detroiters migrate towards it.
Detroiters are discovering the rural Thumb area of Michigan and leaving the suburbs behind: "The land between old cities and rural America lacks soul." While some vacation there and some put down roots, all agree that Michigan's Thumb is a viable alternative to expensive, sprawling northwest Michigan.
