Free Homes in East Palo Alto

Upscale residents want to donate homes to get a tax write-off and save on demolition costs.
A surprising trend in Silicon Valley has wealthy residents who want to build new homes willing to donate their old ones. One Los Altos couple even paid to have the house they were donating moved to East Palo Alto. The City Council will meet to decide on a formal policy on this trend that might help to save some old houses from being torn down and provide low-income housing options.
