Urban Land Institute takes on planning project to revitalize culturally diverse downtown San Jose
San Jose turns to the Urban Land Institute to figure out how to revive its ethnically diverse downtown shopping district with Silicon Valley's technology lifestyle. Architecture columnist Alan Hess provides a summary of the evolution of the urban shopping district in other downtowns: Horton Plaza in San Diego, Ghirardelli Square, and Disneyland. Will downtown San Jose set the next trend for downtown revitalization -- bringing together cultural diversity and technology?
