Planning Miami's Greatest Street

"Every city needs at least one great street." For Miami, that great street should be Biscayne Boulevard.
"In Miami, the street that could -- and should -- aspire to greatness is obvious, Biscayne Boulevard... At its worst, it is tacky fast-food franchises, tawdry auto repair shops and mundane office buildings. At best come remarkable and generally unsung historic buildings of Mediterranean Revival, Art Deco and Miami Modern styles, almost all of them unrecognized for their architecture, value or potential... Last month the Department of City Planning convened a four-day design charrette for the portion of Biscayne Boulevard..."
